As an old Chinese saying goes, “Dietary cure is Better than a medical one.” Manufactured medicine usually comes with some side effects. You may ask, what about the traditional Chinese medicine, which only uses natural ingredients or herbs? Well, surprisingly, if you have Chinese medicine for a long time, its side effect can not only affect your stomach, but also damage your liver and kidney, because most of the drug metabolism goes through these two major organs.

Apparently, we don’t want to cure a disease at a cost of risking our overall health. Maybe it’s better to learn some healthy Chinese food recipes and cook at home. Authentic Chinese food is way different from what’s offered in those to-go restaurants in the U.S. My friend used to work in this kind of restaurant as a delivery man. He told me it took less than 5 minutes to prepare a dish on the menu. How is that possible? Well, the secret is a lot of pre-work. Cut vegetables and meat, make the “delicious” sauce (which I never see before in China), and efficient cooking method (fry everything first and then stir-fry with sauce). Ah….. I don’t even want to think about it! But there is hope:) there are some good simple Chinese food recipes made in a healthier way, such as moo goo gai pan, chicken lettuce wrap, and carrot beef brisket stew.

No time? So what’s the solution? God is very loving to create varieties of fruits on the earth; each type of fruit has its unique flavor and natural effect. 1.Natural Vitamin C—Dates        

Citrus, lemon, kiwi… These are generally considered to the best sources of Vitamin C. However, compared to sweet and fresh dates, their combined value of Vitamin C cannot defeat the dates alone. In every 100 grams of fresh dates, the amount of vitamin C can be as high as 200-500 mg.

Best eating method:  one fresh date per day can meet the body’s need for vitamin.

2. Natural anti-aging drug – Broccoli

Broccoli is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C and carotene. Cruciferous vegetables have been proved by scientists to be the best anti-aging and anti-cancer food.

Best eating method: stir-fry broccoli with garlic, steamed or boiled broccoli.

3. Natural anti-cancer drug – Garlic

The germanium and selenium found in garlic can inhibit the growth of cancer cells. Studies show that people with the highest amount of selenium in their blood cells are the population with lowest incidence of cancer.

4. Natural hair dye – Black sesame

Modern studies have shown that the reduced level of melanin contained in hair follicle melanocytes is the main reason for grey hair, in which the amount of tyrosinase drops as one of the pathological mechanism. Study has found that black sesame water extract can promote the expression of tyrosinase, improve melanin synthesis, therefore grey hair can become black again.

Best eating method: black sesame seeds can be ground into powder. Mix sesame powder with hot water to into sesame paste.                                                                                                                                                   

5. Natural whitening medicine – Kiwi                                                    

Every kilogram of kiwifruit contains up to 95.7 mg of vitamin C. It is also known as the king of fruits. The content of vitamin C and vitamin E can not only beautify the skin, but also has antioxidant effect. It can effectively whitening the skin, eliminate wrinkles and acne, and enhance skin’s anti-aging ability.

Best eating method: peeled or cut the flesh and eat with a spoon.

6. Natural digestive medicine – Pineapple

If you often have indigestion problem, eat some pineapple after a meal. Pineapple contains special protease, which helps to break down proteins in the stomach and complement the body’s digestive enzymes.
